How observing the beauty around you fills your heart and calms the mind
Programs coming summer & fall 2025
Take a breath. Step into the garden.
I'm sure you've experienced this. You're feeling stressed, a little anxious, probably exhausted and out of balance. You step outside into the garden, flush with Summer blooms, and you draw in a deep breath. Every flower seems to welcome you. As you stop to admire the Giant Sunflower with all its intricate details, bees buzzing lazily, you realize that you've been transported into an enchanted, peaceful World.
All the stress you felt has melted away, your brain has stopped chattering, and your senses are alive with sights, scents, and an innocent sense of wonder. You breathe in deeply again and feel peace descending all around you.
This is the magic of Nature, the beauty of the Garden, alive with birds, bees, worms, trees and flowers. And you are a part of it all.

what is haiku?
I have been writing Haiku for many, many years. I wrote my first Haiku in High School and have loved it ever since. It is a daily morning Practice for me. It helps me see the World with fresh eyes. It also helps me process my own issues, shifting my perspective to the positive. I am confident that you will find writing Haiku a great benefit in your daily and Spiritual life.
Haiku is a Japanese poem, unrhymed, consisting of 17 syllables, formed in three lines of 5, 7, and 5 syllables. But it is so much more than that. Writing Haiku allows you to slow down, observing the minute details of Life all around you. Usually focused on natural beauty, this art form calls you to live squarely in the moment where you can capture the ephemeral beauty of Now. Writing Haiku is the practice of being present, listening, seeing, and being aware of what may go unnoticed in our busy, every day lives.
In writing this poetic form, one has the opportunity to use the mind as you fit flowing phrases into the metered structure. You can paint beautiful pictures with your words. Your inspiration is Nature, or a fleeting feeling, a memory, a scent, a thought to ponder. Haiku can serve to paint gorgeous imaginary scenes, or help you process your thoughts and emotions. It is both an art, and a healing modality. It is the act of creating something magical, transformative.

you're invited. step into the garden
I hope that you'll join me in the coming seasons when the Garden is full of joy and Life. Come walk, listen, observe, and take a peaceful moment to write an inspired Haiku. I would be so honored to share my love of this art form with you. It can truly transport you into magical realms right in your own backyard, or favorite Nature spot.
I will be offering Haiku In The Garden in various locations this Summer and Fall. We'll come together in Community to share our work, our stories, our revelations about ourselves and the World around us. You will fall in love with writing Haiku, whether it's for personal healing or just the joy of recording the ephemeral moments you capture as you linger a while in quiet contemplation.
Life is happening all around you in minute detail. We sometimes fail to see the bigger picture that is captured in the slow, gentle descent of a lone cherry blossom as it falls to Earth. We are all connected, to each other, and to Nature. I invite you to join me as we find the deep beauty of this magnificent World, as well as discovering the intriguing inner landscape within each of us.
Watch for Haiku In The Garden coming to a beautiful spot near you. Feel free to contact me and request a program in your own area if you don't see it on the calendar of coming events. If you have a Garden that you would like to share with others, I would be happy to have a workshop right in your own backyard! I look forward to spending some Garden time with you! Cheers, Beth Lawrence
